This study has been funded by the Southern Area Health and Social Services Board (£20,000). Using survey and qualitative methods we are currently examining the needs of clergy as they attempt to deal with the deeply sensitive issue of providing pastoral care to families, friends and the community. How do they cope? Should they receive training in mental health care? How should they collaborate with statutory services? (Gerard Leavey, Peter McBride, Janeet Rondon, Katy Radford & Margaret Fawcett). The final report, Dealing with Suicide; the needs of Clergy in providing pastoral care is now available.
